How to use this calculator
Estimate the number of books and a realistic average page count. If your list mixes short and long books, use a conservative average or make separate plans.
Enter pages already read toward this goal, then choose the number of days each week you expect to read.
Add pages per hour only if it helps you reserve time. It is an estimate, not a test of reading speed.
Worked example: reading 12 books in 15 weeks
Suppose you want to read 12 books averaging 300 pages, have already read 600 pages, and plan to read five days each week for 15 weeks.
- Total reading goal: 3,600 pages
- Pages remaining: 3,000
- Planned reading sessions: 75
- Required pace: 40 pages per reading day
At that pace, the plan calls for about 200 pages each week. Entering a pages-per-hour estimate can translate that page target into a rough reading-time block.
How this reading goal calculator works
A reading goal calculator turns a book goal into pages per reading day. It estimates total pages from the number of books and average pages per book, subtracts pages already read, and divides what remains across the reading sessions before the target date.
Books do not all take the same time to read. Dense nonfiction, technical material, or books with exercises may need a separate plan. Use this page-based estimate to choose a sustainable reading rhythm, then adjust as your actual list changes.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the calculator use pages instead of books per week?
Page counts make mixed-length books easier to plan. The calculator estimates total pages from your book count and average pages per book.
How should I choose an average page count?
Look at your planned list and use a realistic average. If the books vary widely, make separate plans for shorter and longer books.
What does pages per hour do?
It gives a rough estimate of minutes per reading session. It does not affect the required number of pages.
Can I count audiobooks?
You can approximate them with pages if that helps, but a time-based plan may be more useful for audiobooks.
